Objectives of the assignment
- The main purpose of this study is to: (i) Assess the current status of implementation of SADC regional harmonized policy frameworks and guidelines on TB Management with specific focus on TB in the Mining Sector in the SADC; and (ii) Document information on interventions to support the implementation/scale-up of harmonized Management of TB in the Mining Sector and cross-border referrals of TB patients in SATBHSS and other SADC member states.
- To assess the current stage of domestication of SADC regional harmonized policy frameworks and guidelines on TB Management in the SADC member states and document lessons learned.
- To document information on past and current interventions to support the implementation/scale-up of Harmonized Management of TB in the Mining Sector and cross-border referrals.
- To perform a comprehensive comparative assessment of TB management guidelines and routine recording and reporting tools across SATBHSS countries to understand gaps in harmonizing TB management protocols and support the development/implementation of cross-border tolls.
- To assess the implementation of harmonized TB management and cross-border referrals for miners and families/migrant population at health facilities and patient level.
- To document bottlenecks for implementation of harmonized TB management and cross-border referrals.
- To provide recommendations for effective implementation of harmonized TB management and cross-border referrals.
- To identify countries with pronounced cross-border migration to and from SATBHSS project countries to be prioritized for targeted interventions.
- To assess the relevance of the framework for harmonized TB management in the mining sector within the current updates in TB management, and recommend required updates.
