The second phase of the ASTII initiative covers the period 1 July 2010 to 31 December 2013. Some major outputs reported for phase 2 include, development of human and institutional capacity; ASTII data being credited as part of national statistics; building partnerships with other domestic and international programmes that support Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) databases; STI status of African countries being published in the African Innovation Outlook reports; and a coordinated mechanism for STI data established within the African Union system.
