Algeria is expected to benefit from the construction of the 225 kilometres Trans-Sahara highway from Assamakka to Arlit, Niger, which will directly connect other five countries that include Niger, Nigeria, Tunisia, Mali and Chad. The completion of the highway will facilitate seamless road transportation over a distance of 5,000 kilometres from Algiers to Lagos, Nigeria.
The country has also completed its 2,700 kilometres of the 4 500 kilometres optic fibre line from Algeria to Nigeria, which will also benefit Niger.
Algeria is an active partner in the construction of the 2,303 kilometres gas pipeline from Nigeria to Algeria through Niger to connect to the 220 kilometres pipeline from Algeria to Spain with an estimated annual capacity of 30 billion cubic litres of natural gas per year once operational.
The country is is also benefiting from the Trans-Maghreb Highway project, which is designed to improve travel for people and goods across the Maghreb countries. The project includes the implementation of a smart corridor system along the highway with One Stop Border Posts.
The Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) in North Africa also include the North Africa Transmission project. This project involves the construction of a 2,700 km line from Morocco to Egypt through Algeria, Tunisia and Libya.
The preparatory processes for implementation of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) has commenced, which aims to increase investment into agriculture.
