Overview

Join us at the Kigali High-Level Health Financing Conference!

Unveiling a pivotal event in Africa's health trajectory, the Kigali High-level Health Financing Conference aims to address and propel sustainable solutions through Financing and Investments in Africa's Health Systems for improved Health Security on the Continent. This milestone event, hosted under the auspices of H.E. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, and African Union Champion of the ALM-investing in Health initiative, promises to be a transformative catalyst in reinvigorating Africa’s momentum towards enhanced domestic financing and investments in Africa’s Health architecture.

Conference Theme: "Sustaining the HIV Response through Financing and Investments in Africa's Health Systems for improved Health Security on the Continent."

 KEY FOCUS AREAS:

The event format will take on 3 focus areas deliberated in Track events over 2 days, with various side-events held on the sidelines of the Conference.

Track 1 - Sustaining the HIV Response: Continuing the focus on sustaining the HIV response by strengthening the six pillars of the Roadmap to 2030, adopted during the High-Level Ministerial Meeting in Addis Ababa.

Track 2 - Advancing Health Financing : Building on the ALM declaration, supporting the acceleration of the Regional Health Financing Hubs and ongoing initiatives as the nexus for driving domestic health financing reforms in AU Member States, and launching the AUDA-NEPAD program for investments and financing in the health sector (PIFAH).

Track 3 - Health Security: Building and advancing health products security through African Manufacture of Diagnostics, Vaccines and Therapeutics to ensure Africa's health systems are resilient against emerging diseases and pandemics.

OBJECTIVES:

The objective of the Kigali High-Level Health Financing Conference is to bring together the high-level political leadership on the continent and mobilize partner support to:

  1. Advance healthcare in Africa, with a focus on sustaining the HIV response through innovative financing mechanisms, investment in health systems, and the strengthening of health financing.
  2. Strengthen health financing mechanisms, ensuring that Africa's health systems are robust and resilient, particularly in the face of emerging and re-emerging diseases.
  3. Promote collaboration and discussion among key stakeholders, including Ministers of Health, Ministers of Finance, and Heads of State, to explore and implement innovative financing solutions for the HIV response. Simultaneously, the conference aims to advance health financing and health security.
