Podcast: Acting Head of Environmental Sustainability, Mr. Mamadou Diakhite speaking on the 5th AFR100 conference recently hosted in Rwanda (Kigali)
In this interview, I invited I spoke to Mr. Mamadou Diakhite, ACTING Head of Environmental Sustainability at the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD. He was sharing the insight/feedback of the 5th AFR100 conference that was hosted in Rwanda (Kigali). He motioned that he is excited as the number of AFR100 member countries has been increasing. Recently, Zambia has officially joined the initiative with a commitment to restore 2 million hectares of degraded forests and lands by 2030. The increasing commitment to restoration in the continent demonstrates the determination to make the AFR100 initiative a tool for the benefit of African people and economies and he emphasized the importance of this initiative in job creation especially for youth and women of the continent through the Land Accelerator initiative. The AFR100 is a direct engagement with young restoration entrepreneurs and women has started to yield results through the Land Accelerator Programme. The 2021 Land Accelerator Africa Cohort is currently underway with 100 businesses enrolled and they are given weekly training every Tuesday to help them acquire the top business model that will benefit the continent.
