Private Sector Voices: Senegal

Focusing on developing human capital is key in transforming the Senegalese economy. In the video below, private sector representatives from Dakar express how they encounter a huge challenge in finding qualified talent in the job market; even if the academic paths are good, they often lack practical skills. This challenge can be remedied through the implemetation of internships and apprenticeships. The interviewees further express the importance of partnering with schools and training institutions in order to design curricular which produces employable young people. In addition, the private sector recognises the importance of training youth to be job creators instead of job seekers, this relieves the pressure on private sector companies to create employment opportunities.
