President Uhuru Kenyatta re-affirms commitment to NEPAD and APRM
President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta has emphasised his personal commitment to NEPAD and APRM during a courtesy visit on him by NEPAD CEO Dr Ibrahim Mayaki, on the side-lines of the AU Summit in Addis Ababa. Dr Mayaki highlighted the important role that Kenya continues to play with respect to both NEPAD and the APRM.
President Kenyatta and Dr Mayaki also discussed the Presidential Infrastructure Champion Initiative (PICI), where Kenya has expressed an interest in joining this initiative and playing a critical role in promoting specific infrastructure projects on the African continent.
Dr Mayaki expressed his appreciation that the Government of Kenya has agreed to host the 2nd High-level meeting of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC) in 2016. President Kenyatta responded that he has dedicated a team of government officials to ensure that this event will be a success.
President Kenyatta ended by inviting the NEPAD CEO to Nairobi for more in-depth discussions, to which Dr Mayaki responded affirmatively.
