MEDIA ADVISORY: NEPAD@20 Symposium: Building the Africa We Want
WHAT: The African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) would like to inform the media that the agency is organising a high-level symposium to mark 20 years of NEPAD implementation.
WHY: Almost two decades since the birth of NEPAD, there is need to reflect on the successes, achievements and challenges in its implementation and examine the relevance and future of the first continental development agency. The high-level symposium and dialogue to assess NEPAD implementation over the past 20 years and the capacities needed to support implementation of the first continental development agency, AUDA-NEPAD, is therefore being organised.
WHO: The symposium will comprise a high-level roundtable and panels for open dialogue on NEPAD and actions needed for Building the Africa We Want. Dignitaries at the event will include:
- H.E Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa and Chairperson of the African Union
- H.E. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, Chairperson of the
NEPAD HSGOC
- H.E Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the African Union Commission
- H.E Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria
- H.E Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
- H.E Ellen Sirleaf Johnson, former President of the Republic of Liberia and Nobel Prize Laureate
- H.E Thabo Mbeki, former President of the Republic of South Africa
- Dr Ibrahim Assane Mayaki, Chief Executive Officer, AUDA-NEPAD
