Getting to Know Africa’s Flourishing Healthcare Start-ups

AUDA-NEPAD in partnership with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), supported by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Villgro Africa, have recently completed the second cohort of the Home-Grown Solutions (HGS) Accelerator for Pandemic Resilience in Africa. The aim is to enable African businesses which strengthen Africa's healthcare ecosystem. In this cohort, we supported 14 companies from 13 countries by providing hands-on, tailored acceleration support to growth and mature stage African health-related businesses that are improving healthcare capacity or reducing reliance on external medical supply chains. The HGS were selected from a competitive pool of >150 applications and have recently completed 6 months of acceleration support, achieving many goals along the way.

On Friday 28th October from 11h00 EAT, the Home Grown Solutions (HGS) Accelerator hosted a webinar “Meet Africa's flourishing healthcare start-ups” in which the HGS presented their experiences throughout the programme and their business opportunities to interested stakeholders including investors, partners. The webinar consisted of 3 sessions and offered great opportunities to hear more about the accelerator, this year's recently concluded cohort, and to network with organizations that are shaping Africa's healthcare sector.
