The African Union delivering as one

On January 14, 2020, H.E Prof Sarah Anyang Agbor, African Union Commissioner for Human Resources, Science and Technology met with the African Union Development Agency (AUDA) – NEPAD to discuss respective institutions programmatic actions on youth development, education & training and science & technology.
The meeting aimed at reinforcing the relationship between the two institutions to bolster technical and operational expertise, and to support the delivery of the Science Technology & Innovation Strategy for Africa (STISA) and the African Plan of Action for Youth Empowerment (APAYE). The STISA and APAYE strategies are part of the long-term people centred AU Agenda 2063 which is underpinned by human capital development, science, technology & innovation, value addition, industrialisation and entrepreneurship as multi-function tools and enablers for achieving continental development goals.
Discussions also centred on the launch of the African Innovation Outlook and the establishment of the African Youth Fund which will be housed at the AUDA-NEPAD and the hosting of the annual Continental Dialogue AfricaCreatesJobs which is set to take place in 2020 to show case the AUC Chairperson’s initiative- 1 Million jobs by 2021 amongst others.
