Agenda 2063 framework document and its popular version were approved in January 2015 by the 24th Session of the AU Assembly of Heads of State and Government meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Agenda 2063 is a blueprint for the socio-economic development and transformation of the African continent within a fifty-year period from 2013 – 2063.

In 2019, AUDA-NEPAD and the African Union Commission (AUC) developed the First Continental Report on the implementation of Agenda 2063 First Ten Year Implementation Plan (FTYIP) using an empirical methodology with the involvement of AU Member States (MS) and Regional Economic Communities (RECs) in preparing progress reports on the implementation of Agenda 2063.

The Agenda 2063 Monitoring and Reporting Community of Practice (CoP) is a cornerstone for AUDA-NEPAD in developing and sustaining capacities on Agenda 2063 Monitoring and Reporting in AU Organs, RECs and AU MS, including policymakers, researchers, think tanks and other relevant stakeholders. The CoP also provides an inclusive and participatory platform for involvement of various stakeholders in the preparation and validation of reports, as well as foster a multi-stakeholder accountability framework for achievement of Agenda 2063 results, as well as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
