Skills in Africa: What skilling young Africans for the future looks like
Skills change the lives of young people around the globe. They create opportunities, build self-esteem, release potential and connect communities. They are the foundation of economic progress and the building blocks of our world. AUDA-NEPAD and its partners’ Skills Initiative for Africa program helps young people who want to change their lives, and the fortunes of their communities and societies. The Skills Initiative for Africa promotes the dissemination of innovative approaches for practice-oriented TVET in Africa.
In this video, current landscape of skills is unpacked; with the contributing key factors including its role towards poverty alleviation, ensuring political stability, promoting sustainable development and enabling social participation among youth. The video further looks at practice within the government departments, corporates and the education sector in the continent including World Skills Competition. The video entails visual clues to skills, building up a picture of what the different sector needs to play in skills development.
