Caroline, Kenya
Caroline is a final year agriculture technical vocational education and training (ATVET) student at the Dairy Training Institution (DTI) in Kenya. Students at DTI are trained in milk production and processing. Caroline believes that girls should have the same opportunities as boys, including the opportunity to handle animals in dairy farming. Through her training, Caroline was able to develop her skills in milk processing and quality management. Training women in all segments of agricultural value chains is crucial. In doing so, women’s driving role in Africa’s agricultural sector is strengthened – both in economic and social terms.
